About the Author
Jean Marzollo has written many award-winning children’s books, including the acclaimed I Spy series and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARTIN LUTHER KING. Jean lives with her husband, Claudio, in New York State’s Hudson Valley.
Walter Wick is the photographer of the bestselling I Spy series as well as the author and photographer of the bestselling Can You See What I See? series. He lives with his wife, Linda, in Connecticut.

No spying required.

I purchased this book from Amazon, without being able to view any of the pictures inside. The title led me to believe my daughter would be searching for letters amid a jumble of other pictures, (like a "Where's Waldo" for the alphabet!) but sadly, that is not the case. Each page features only two jumbo-sized letters, and the rhyming prose discusses the designs or patterns featured on the letters. This is NOT a book that requires your little one to play "I spy" or to hunt for letters. This is just another book about letters for parents to read to their kids. While there's certainly nothing wrong with reading books to children, I feel this book is purposefully deceptive in its marketing. Thus, the low rating.

I spy a letter sitting right in front of me....

Sadly, there is nothing to spy in this book. Nothing is hidden, the letters are just right there. Just sitting there on a blank, white page. No searching whatsoever.
The age range for this book is listed as 3-5. Wrong. My 2-year old isn't even amused.
So, if you are looking for a letter book, I do think this one is nice, but don't buy this if you are expecting the typical "I Spy" format.

Everything Old Is New Again - Or Never ever goes out of style!

When our now 25 year old son, was but a toddler, he loved the I spy books we had for him. Though back then they were hardcover. Now, his daughter, age 6, sent a text to me "Nana, do you know what kind of Book I REALLY would love to have?" (yes, like her father she too has a very high IQ for a six year old) I asked her which book? She said the I Spy Books! I was thrilled. I've purchased several, and am very thankful they are all soft-covered so when we ship them to Nevada, where she lives with her mother, and younger siblings, it will not cost as much. I LOVE that this book is a Generational Favorite. As a child in the 60's I do not recall if they were called I Spy, but I do remember spending time searching for objects on the page of a book! Now, I do it online, when me peepers are up to it. We will see our Sweet Jayde, and her sisters and brother in August for a whole week! While their parents are on a mini-vacation. THANK YOU! The prices, while well withing my budget, are well worth that and MORE for my Granddaughter's Heart and MINE! Bless YouI
