Excellent way of learning chess at a great price!

I saw where this product received some sort of parents' choice award so I bought it for my 6-yeard old son. I was surprised that he was excited about it being ordered and was anxious to receive it. Given the price I was not expecting much. But, I thought the spiral-bound text that opens to the left of the playing board was great. Instructions were clear and my son could understand them and grasp the basics of the game. The text gets very detailed in the intricacies of the game. My son and I have only read the first half of the text. The remaining text allows one to improve their skills and perform more complicated moves and strategies. We played several games over the first week and he was excited to show his grandparents that he could play chess. My 6-year old, who loves learning new things, really likes this chess set. I can't believe the price. This is a real bargain and a must for anyone introducing the game to a young one. The item comes with a complete chess set and the inside of the back cover serves as the magnetic board. Having magnetic chess pieces is very helpful. The one drawback is that the chess pieces are very small. But, I still think it is worthy of 5-stars.

a very fun addition to teach your kid chess

This is a good chess book, plus a func magnetic chess board and pieces. In 47 pages, I covered through recognizing pieces to advanced knowledge like 'Sicilian Defense' but all in a easy going way in short sentences. But one word to add, this book can be a fun addition, but kid better has already some knowledge on chess.

Today we got this item, but, unfortunately, it's not complete. We don't have a white rook. How can we play without one piece?
